Shamrock Highlands Thoroughbreds has recently purchased Parawan a 10 y-old Pioneer of the Nile mare in foal to Scalding son of Nyquist. “We are pleased and fortunate to have been able to acquire a mare with the strong and active maternal line that Parawan has” says Jeff Callan managing director. ” She has had 2 foals by Scalding the oldest being a yearling this year. The second Dam has only 2 foals and both have raced and both winners. Given the limited offspring since the second Dam, I believe that the jury is still out on her capabilities as a broodmare. The second dam Juliac direct maternal line has produced the following recognizable names:
Cairo Prince-3 wins in 5 starts earning $ 562,000-includign 2 G2 races Sire. He like Parawan is by Pioneer of the Nile
Outwork- 3 wins in 5 starts including the G1 Wood memorial $ 701,800 -Sire
Fiercness-7-time winner to date including 4 G1 wins including the Fla derby, Breeders cup Juvenile, Travers stakes and now the Pacific classic soundly defeating journalism. He looks to be potentially headed to the 7 million $ breeders’ cup classic, Pacific classic race below. He could be horse of the year if he can win the Breeders’ cup classic this fall and will come close to 9 MILLION in earnings.
“Parawan has the size and confirmation I like in a broodmare prospect. I think she matches up with multiple stallions for the 2026 season and We will do our research and make a decision later this fall on who our choice will be for 2026 breeding season. She has settled in here at the farm and is a pretty easy keeper. I like the pioneer of the Nile stride and hope that carries to her offspring”
Shares of Parawan and future offspring will be available shortly on our website. For news on her and all Shamrock Highlands Thoroughbreds properties or to subscribe to our newsletter just reach out to us.
