Luca Panici Retires From Riding

It is with mixed emotions when the Shamrock Highlands team heard that Luca Panici has retired from riding races. Luca perfectly handled our own Perfect Silent Cat in the Adventura stakes at Gulfstream in 2021with “the Cat” breaking his maiden in that overnight handicap. “Luca could not have rode a better race” according to Jeff Callan -Managing Director at Shamrock Highlands. “He broke with the Cat well sat in a stalking position on the outside while not pressing the leader and timed his move forward and opened up on the field.” “We are now based in KY and shifted from sales horses to concentrating on breeding our own and are now just starting to fill the pipeline” It was always in the back of my mind that we would in the future return to Gulfstream in a significant race and of course Luca would be my first choice. We won’t have the opportunity to team up with Luca to be aboard one of our horses in the future. We are very happy for Luca and wish him all the success in any future endeavors.
