The Wicked Cat known at Shamrock Highlands Thoroughbreds by the barn name “Newbie”  won a NW2 $50,000 optional claiming race at Evangeline on May 28. The Wicked Cat out of Grandma’s Rules by Bobbys Wicked one was purchased by Shamrock Highlands when “newbie” was just a weanling along with Grandma’s Rules and was raised at our farm in KY. The Wicked Cat was sold in the Inglis digital sale as a yearling and returned to Louisiana. The Wicked Cat left with 3 other horses in a sharp first quarter in 22.03 when C.J McMahon backed him off, settled off the pace and asked him for more down the stretch to win the 5f race in 58.94. Our congratulations go out to owner/trainer Yovani Munoz and to C.J for a well handled win. Grandma’s Rules has a yearling colt by Oxbow and is once again back in foal to Oxbow. “we at Shamrock Highlands wish continued success to the Wicked Cat in the future” said Jeff Callan Managing Director. “The team here who took care of him continues to watch his races and cheer him on”.
