Welcome to Shamrock Highlands Thoroughbreds. We invite you to join us in the exciting and rewarding world of Thoroughbred racing. We have worked to develop a new and different strategy and combination of expertise to assist you the thoroughbred owner that is unlike other opportunities that are currently available.

A decision was recently made to send the 3YO well-bred filly "Feasting" to Kentucky to be bred to champion and first-year stallion Maximum Security. Maximum Security is a winner of 10 races in 14 starts with earnings of over $14 million.  "Feasting started behind the rest of the 3YOs and with a minor setback putting her back an additional season, it was actually Barry who suggested we should send her to the breeding shed," Managing Director Jeff Callan said. "When comparing notes, we had several in mind but decided on 'Maximum Security'."
Feasting is a well put together, well-bred filly with a very fluid gate. She is out of a Mare that has produced GOURMET DINNER ($1,191,230) and 4 others with earnings of more than $150,000. Her second Dam has 2 foals that were producers of MUSICAL ROMANCE ($1,681,885), PATTERNRECOGNITION ($1,012,325) and others with earnings of more than $400,000. The same extended maternal line also produced BATTLE OF MIDWAY ($1,589,049.)
Moving forward in the breeding direction is a move for economic efficiency. "Instead of sacrificing this season, it made sense to move forward in this direction," Callan added. "This is an opportunity for us to turn a decent racing stake into a breeding stake with winning potential, especially with a high-caliber horse like Maximum Security." The Shamrock Highlands filly will be bred at the Versailles, KY location of world-famous Coolmore, Ashford Stud. Feasting will be under world-class care afterward, residing at War Horse Place in Lexington KY.

Attention Investors: We are currently looking for private horses for sale, and planning on attending upcoming sales in May and June. We're tracking several potential young claimers of interest.

We have confirmed interest from some current partners, and are looking for others to "join our family" on these future ground-floor opportunities. Give us a call or e-mail (see our contact page here) and we can discuss potential opportunities with you to see how our plans might fit with your objectives. Looking forward to talking with you!

Perfect Silent Cat had his first start Sunday the 18th in the 9th race at Tampa Bay Downs. He left the gate 1/4 in 22.0 with a group of five. Jockey Wilmer Garcia backed him down and he didn't like the amount of dirt and sand hitting him, and soon the Cat dropped all the way back to last (10th). In the clearing around the last turn, the Cat made up plenty of ground in a second effort to finish fifth, all the while continuing to make up ground on the leaders. He came out of his first race well, and the plan is to move him to turf.

Our preferred trainers in the Kentucky, California and Northeast regions are off to a fantastic start in the 2021 racing season.

Ben Colebrook has won 4 of 9 starts in the last week, including two wins at Keeneland by jockey Luis Saez, taking Cancellara and Predetermined to Claiming wins on 4/7 and 4/9, respectively. At Mahoning Valley on 4/10, his Prodigy Doll took the win in the Cheryl S. White Memorial Stakes race. He rounded out the week last Sunday with an AoC race at Keeneland with Corey Lanerie riding Club Car for Ben's fourth win in as many days.

At Santa Anita, Ryan Hanson had a pair of wins with Simmer Down and Respectfully on the same card on 4/4.

Also with four wins over four days is Kate Demasi, whose Kind Humor grabbed a win in a Maiden Special Weight at Parx on 4/6. In the very next race, Twirling Liz went on to win a $25k Claiming. Penn National is no stranger to Demasi's continued successes, where two of hers took battle for the lead in another Maiden Special Weight on 4/7, with Catching the Wind taking 1st place over Onthisharvestmoon. Demasi took another win at Penn two days later in a $31k Allowance with Lady Munnings.

Congratulations to all in their great showings in our first half of April!

Congratulations to Sharon Boland, Florida-based trainer of our Shamrock Highlands properties in the Southern Region! Boland recently won two races at Tampa Bay Downs on the Saturday, March 21st card. Boland clinched the First Race with He's Royalty a five-year-old gelding, and the Sixth Race with Twirling Star, a five-year-old mare. With 12 horses in training at Tampa Bay Downs, our hats are off to Boland's recent successes. We're looking forward to seeing her in the winner's circle again soon!
