Home to the Florida Derby and venues like Gulfstream Park, Gulfstream Park West in Miami, and Tampa Bay Downs, the Southeast region is a hothouse for breeding and year-round warm-weather thoroughbred training.

Trainer – SB Racing

A trainer in Florida with hands on experience, academic knowledge, and a racing heritage to be proud of, Sharon Boland has 30 years of experience training horses.

Sharon's experience was founded in working with her father starting in the 1980s, breeding and training thoroughbreds. Her father, William Boland, was a Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes, and Kentucky Oaks winning jockey. After his retirement from jockeying in 1969, he went on to train--and Sharon took up the reins of a proud family business.

Her already rich experience was coupled with an education in agricultural business and management, centered on track management and equine studies. Sharon spent time at Hobeau Farms in Marion County, Florida, jogging horses and gaining other hands-on experiences. She spent years training in New York, where she took over her father's operations.

Breaking and developing young horses is what Sharon considers to be her specialty. She spent many seasons in Aiken, SC breaking 40-50 horses a year, splitting her time between building up talent there and managing training and racing operations in Chicago.

Sharon is now centered in Florida, where she uses her expertise in race-ready nutrition and focus on building up young horses and first-time racers to get them competition-ready.  She also serves as Equine Nutritional Consultant for Seminole Feed.
