Shamrock Highlands Filly ‘Feasting’ to be bred with ‘Maximum Security’

A decision was recently made to send the 3YO well-bred filly “Feasting” to Kentucky to be bred to champion and first-year stallion Maximum Security. Maximum Security is a winner of 10 races in 14 starts with earnings of over $14 million. “Feasting started behind the rest of the 3YOs and with a minor setback putting her back an additional season, it was actually Barry who suggested we should send her to the breeding shed,” Managing Director Jeff Callan said. “When comparing notes, we had several in mind but decided on ‘Maximum Security’.”

Feasting is a well put together, well-bred filly with a very fluid gate. She is out of a Mare that has produced GOURMET DINNER ($1,191,230) and 4 others with earnings of more than $150,000. Her second Dam has 2 foals that were producers of MUSICAL ROMANCE ($1,681,885), PATTERNRECOGNITION ($1,012,325) and others with earnings of more than $400,000. The same extended maternal line also produced BATTLE OF MIDWAY ($1,589,049.)

Moving forward in the breeding direction is a move for economic efficiency. “Instead of sacrificing this season, it made sense to move forward in this direction,” Callan added. “This is an opportunity for us to turn a decent racing stake into a breeding stake with winning potential, especially with a high-caliber horse like Maximum Security.” The Shamrock Highlands filly will be bred at the Versailles, KY location of world-famous Coolmore, Ashford Stud. Feasting will be under world-class care afterward, residing at War Horse Place in Lexington KY.
