Late in the evening March 13th Grandma’s Rules gave birth to a strong, alert, and healthy colt by Preakness winner Oxbow. “After a year of anticipation on this foal we are extremely happy with the result” says Jeff Callan-Managing Director of Shamrock Highlands Thoroughbreds.” We reviewed a lot of stallions and potential match-ups with Grandma and this one to me really stood out. I was very impressed with Tuz last year when we looked at this match up and since then he hasn’t disappointed”. Tuz Oxbow -Suede Shoe by Pulpit now a winner of 6 graded stakes and over $ 2 million in lifetime earnings. “ I loved his performance in dominating the field in the Dubawi stakes last January when we were looking at stallions and since then he hasn’t disappointed winning his last 5 (4 graded stakes races) including the Grade I Dubai Golden Shaheen. Grandma showed herself to be solid at a distance on the turf and with the speed of Orientate and of course Oxbow himself and with Grandmas second Dam being a full sister to breeders’ cup Distaff winner One Dreamer on the dirt at a distance we liked the Oxbow mix of speed and distance on the dirt. We wanted a versatile horse that hopefully had the best of both”. “Everything we looked at to me didn’t match up to this cross. Then when we did the sanity check on True Nicks and saw the A++ 84.03 variant that really iced it. Especially given the limited # of these cross data points available. The colt shows lots of the coloring of his sire but also his long legs and head shape show the Tiznow influence. We could not be happier with this colt and our decision a year ago”. Tizamazing Oxbows Dam is a full sister to Tiznow. “This is always a pleasant surprise when you see some of the genetic characteristics of a great horse like Tiznow show through. Of course, we liked this fact but weren’t expecting some of these attributes to show through”

“Special thanks to Calumet and team for working with us on this breeding last year. They have been great to work with”

“For Grandma we are looking at several stallions in 2025 including Channel Cat, also standing at Calumet and of course after seeing what we have its hard to ignore Oxbow for her. We will definitely be back to Oxbow if not this year most likely in 2026”

This colt will soon be made available for % ownership with the Shamrock Highlands group. “The plan for this colt is to see it through and race him under the Shamrock Highlands banner,” said Callan.
