Sad news to report as our beloved mare “Feasting” is euthanized

Abstract white torn paper edge on green.
The Shamrock Highlands team is sad to report that our Mare Feasting needed to be euthanized after a difficult foaling. Feasting had a pinched and out of place colon as a result of the foal and after birth it was in serious condition. After heavy medication trying to treat the colon, it was decided she needed surgery. “It was a 50/50 proposition” says Callan. We decided to move forward and for the first 36 hours it appeared she was at least stable. Then she quickly went downhill, there was after that no chance of recovery. “We are all very saddened by not only a loss of a mare but a friend”. “Feasting will be missed but her legacy will live on with the three foals she has given us and the world” “These are the worst of the business,” said Callan. “These type losses so suddenly are always very hard to take and get over the sadness. When we look in the pasture and I can always see the figure of Feasting coming up for feeding or other activities” Please join us in prayer and silence for Feasting. We are confident she is in a better place and looking down on her offspring.
